Licensed Electrical Worker Supervision

Summary (TL;DR)

All electrical work at Competent Electrician Pte Ltd operates under proper Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) oversight. While routine jobs can be handled by trained technicians, complex tasks—such as rewiring, load upgrading, and official certification—require direct LEW supervision or physical attendance. We prioritise transparency and safety, ensuring you always know how your installation is being managed.

We specialise in safe, compliant, and reliable electrical troubleshooting across Singapore.

Licensed Electrical Worker Singapore

At Competent Electrician Pte Ltd, our electrical works are carried out with proper supervision and oversight by a Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) where required.

We believe customers should clearly understand how electrical work is managed, who attends site, and when LEW involvement is required.

How Our LEW Supervision Works

Not every electrical job requires the LEW to be physically present throughout the entire work.

For routine electrical servicing, replacement, troubleshooting, or minor works, our trained technicians may attend site first to carry out checks, take photos, record findings, and perform works within their authorised scope.

Where necessary, the LEW may supervise the work through:

  • Reviewing site photos and videos
  • Giving technical instructions to technicians
  • Checking test results and measurements
  • Advising on safe work methods
  • Attending site personally when required
  • Reviewing completed work before certification, where applicable

This allows us to provide practical service while still maintaining proper technical control and safety oversight.

When the LEW May Need to Attend Site

LEW attendance may be required for works involving higher responsibility, such as:

New wiring or rewiring worksElectrical installation testing and certification
Distribution board modificationSafety inspection requiring formal assessment
Load upgrading or circuit alterationComplex faults or abnormal electrical conditions
SP Group / PowerGrid submission mattersWorks requiring LEW endorsement or professional judgement

If LEW physical attendance is required, this will be advised before proceeding where possible.

Technician Attendance vs LEW Attendance

Some jobs may be attended by our technician team first. This does not mean the work is unmanaged.

Our technicians work under company procedures and may report back to the LEW for advice, verification, and instruction.

However, customers should note that:

A technician visit is not automatically the same as a full LEW inspection, formal electrical certification, or complete compliance audit.

If a formal LEW report, testing certificate, or official endorsement is required, this must be clearly requested and quoted separately.

Customer Expectation

To avoid misunderstanding, we want to be transparent:

  • The LEW may not be physically present for every routine job.
  • Technicians may carry out works under supervision and instruction.
  • LEW involvement will be provided where required by regulation, safety condition, or scope of work.
  • Formal certification is only issued after proper inspection, testing, and verification.
  • Existing old wiring, concealed cables, hidden joints, or previous third-party works may not be fully verifiable unless detailed testing and inspection are carried out.

Our Commitment

Our goal is to ensure that electrical works are carried out safely, responsibly, and in line with Singapore's electrical requirements.

We do not simply “fix and go”. When we identify safety concerns, we will clearly advise the customer so an informed decision can be made.

Important Note

For existing installations, our inspection and checks are limited to accessible areas and the agreed scope of work. Concealed wiring, hidden joints, and previous works by others may not be fully assessed unless specifically included in the inspection scope.

Where safety risks are identified, rectification may be recommended before any certification or confirmation of safe use can be issued.
