RCCB Subsidy Singapore

HDB offers the Installation Assistance Program to make it more affordable for residents. Homeowners who haven't installed a Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) can get up to 95% off the installation cost.

To qualify for this program, you must meet these conditions:

- You are a Singapore Citizen.

- Your HDB flat was completed in or before 1985.

- Your flat has not had an RCCB installed before.

Depending on your flat type, you will only pay 5% to 12.5% of the total cost.

How to Apply for the HDB RCCB Installation Assistance Program

First, check if your flat already has RCCB. The EMA's guide can help you do this.

If you confirm that your flat does not have an RCCB and you meet the criteria, please inform HDB through the feedback form.

After you submit your feedback, HDB will arrange for a contractor to contact you. They will schedule a home visit to discuss the installation work needed.

What if My RCCB Is Faulty?

If the RCCB in your flat is not working, don't hesitate to contact us to fix the issue. However, if your flat has a faulty RCCB, you cannot get the subsidized installation since only households without an RCCB installed are eligible for this program.

⚠️ If you already have faulty RCCB, you will not qualify for the subsidy. You must hire a **Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW)** to repair it.

⚡ RCCB Requirement: Install Before July 2025

By 1 July 2025, all HDB flats in Singapore must have an RCCB installed. If your home does not have one, it is important to take action for safety reasons.

🛑 What Is an RCCB, and Why Is It Important?

An RCCB is a safety device that cuts off electricity when it detects a current leak. These leaks can occur from damaged wires, exposed circuits, or faulty appliances, creating the risk of electric shocks or fires.

🏠 Do You Need an RCCB?

The Energy Market Authority (EMA) states that all residential properties must have an RCCB by 1 July 2025. If your flat does not have one yet, you should get it installed soon.

If you:

- Recently bought a resale flat

- Live in an older HDB unit

- Don’t remember having an RCCB installed

…it is wise to check.

🔎 How to Check If You Have an RCCB

Look for a switch in your electrical distribution board, usually near the main door or in the kitchen. If you see a button labelled "T" for Test, you are likely have an RCCB installed.

Press the test button; if the circuit does not trip, you should contact a licensed electrician.
